The Spark: Why Sebabatso Was Born

Lesotho’s youth are talented and ambitious, but many struggle with job scarcity and lack of startup support. In October 2023, over 600 hopeful entrepreneurs gathered at Maseru’s Manthabiseng Convention Centre for the launch. Prime Minister Matekane’s vision? Turn potential into progress by aligning with the country’s National Strategic Development Plan II and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As one early participant, dairy entrepreneur Teboho Semoli, said: this initiative is a “lifeline” for starting businesses and lifting communities out of poverty.

How It Works: Two Powerful Streams for Maximum Impact

Sebabatso welcomes applicants from all 10 districts, backgrounds, and genders through one simple, free application.

1. Entrepreneurs Stream

For ages 15–35 with existing businesses ready to scale. Gain training in financial management, branding, marketing, pitching to investors, and market access. The goal: transform promising ventures into sustainable, investable enterprises that create jobs.

2. STEAM Innovators Stream

For ages 16+ with fresh ideas in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Projects must tackle national priorities like agriculture, tourism, energy, health, or tech. Apply solo or in teams—creativity that benefits Lesotho is key.

The Journey: Online application → Bootcamp training → High-stakes pitching → Conference with awards, networking, and ongoing mentorship. Roadshows and support (email/WhatsApp) make it accessible nationwide.
